Record #0764: Your One and Only Love / Please Tell Me Why – JACKIE WILSON

Brunswick 55208 (original, Pinckneyville pressing) USA, February 1961
Words & Music by:  Side ABilly Myles, Jackie Wilson; Side B – Joyce Lee
Musicians: Jackie Wilson (vocals), orchestra and chorus conducted by Dick Jacobs. The orchestra possibly included Al Caiola (guitar), Jerome Richardson (tenor sax), Dick Hyman (piano) and Don Lamond (drums) with others.
Recording sessions: Produced by Nat Tarnopol or Dick Jacobs in New York City, NY, in 1960
Highest chart positions:  Side A - US #40; Side B - US #20, US R&B #11

Just like in the previous post, the A-side was included on album “A Woman, a Lover, a Friend”, and the flip appeared on album “Jackie Sings the Blues”, both in 1960.

By this time the A-sides of Wilson’s singles were largely crooner material. The flips were a bit more like his earlier songs. Too late for R&B, too early for soul, maybe?

List price:  Very Good + is $7,50, Near Mint is $15
