This stayed in the Finnish Top 40 just for one month.

Jagger and Richards were singing backing vocals on the Beatles’ live broadcast of “All You Need Is Love” on 25. June 1967. Some claim that the inspiration for the lyrics of “We Love You” would have originated there. This is very unlikely, as the Rolling Stones worked on the song well before the broadcast and did their first studio take of it already in May 1967.

The flip did better than the A-side in the States (US #14).

List price:  Finnish release, not found in my US catalogs. I found two copies sold in eBay: one for 29 euros and the other for 63 euros (with picture sleeve).

Yet another international hit for the Rolling Stones, who followed the road taken by the Beatles and included oriental influences in their material and especially in “Paint It Black”. Also, both songs were included in their 1966 album “Aftermath” (in the States), which had only Jagger-Richards penned songs. All preceding albums included both original and cover songs.

The UK release of this single (Decca F 12395, 13. May 1966) had “Long, Long While” as the flip side.

The original releases of side A were mistitled with a comma.

List price:  Blue label Very Good+ is $7,50, Near Mint is $15; orange label VG+$50, NM $75; picture sleeve is VG+ $30, NM $60

The original “As Tears Go By” was recorded by Marianne Faithfull in 1964 (US #22, Canada #2, UK #9). It was the first song written by Jagger and Richards, when their manager (Andrew Oldham) forced them to write a song together. Andrew liked the result, but Mick and Keith thought it was a “terrible piece of tripe”, hence they gave it away.
In the UK it was released as the flip side of “19th Nervous Breakdown” (Decca F 12331, UK #2) on 4. February 1966.

“Gotta Get Away” has never been released on a single in the UK.

List price:  Very Good+ is $7,50, Near Mint is $15; orange label VG+$50, NM $75; picture sleeve is $30, NM $60
