Merry Christmas Baby” is a rhythm & blues song originally recorded by Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers in 1947. Berry’s cover was recorded in 16 takes. The 9th take was released on this single and the 16th take on album “St. Louis to Liverpool” (1964, US album #124). The latter is 11 seconds shorter.

The flip was written by Berry but had to be credited also to Marvin Brodie (pseudonym for Johnny Marks) due to his trademark on “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer”. (Good grief!)

“Run Rudolph Run” is commonly identified as the A-side of this record, but the original numbering (U-9167) sets it as the flip.

List price:  Very Good+ is $20, Near Mint is $40
