Record #0214: Honky Tonk Blues / I’m Sorry For You My Friend – HANK WILLIAMS

MGM K11160 (original) USA, 1952
Words & Music by:  Hank Williams
Musicians:
Hank Williams (vocals), Sammy Pruett (lead guitar), Eddie Hill (rhythm guitar), Don Helms (steel guitar), Jerry Rivers (fiddle), Owen Bradley / Fred Rose (piano), Ernie Newton / Cedric Rainwater (bass)
Recording sessions: Castle Studio, Nashville, TN, Dec. 11, 1951
Highest chart positions:  US Country #2

Here the Drifting Cowboys are in almost the same line-up as in the previous Hank record I posted. Eddie Hill replaced Jack Shook in rhythm guitar.

Honky Tonk Blues” was another Top 10 hit for Hank Senior. “I’m Sorry For You My Friend” is a lesser-known piece and sounds a lot like Hank’s earlier hit song “Cold Cold Heart”.

List price:  Very Good + is $15, Near Mint is $30
