I cannot
find much information on neither this doo-wop group nor this record. Even the
label appears to have been a very small local label in Hollywood, CA.
One thing
that I did found out is that the group had a linkage to a very famous band. The
Check-Mates sang the vocals (with Don Wilson) on The Ventures’ 1961 single “The Twomp” (Blue Horizon 6054).
