Record #0016: Stay With Me / You’re So Rude – FACES

Warner Bros. 7545 (original promo), USA, 1971
Words & Music by:  Side A – Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart; Side B – Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan
Musicians:  Rod Stewart (vocals on side A), Ronnie Wood (guitars), Ronnie Lane (bass, vocals on side B), Ian McLagan (keyboards), Kenney Jones (drums)
Recording sessions:  Olympic Sound Studios (?), London, UK, March 1971
Highest chart positions:  US #17, UK #6

Faces were more down to basics of rock’n’roll than the groups where the members played before (Lane, McLagan & Jones in “the Small Faces” and Stewart & Wood in “the Jeff Beck Group”).

These songs were first recorded for the group’s third and bestselling album “A Nod Is As Good As a Wink … To a Blind Horse” (US #6, UK #2) and then released as a 7” single, which was a big hit in both US and UK.

List price:  “Very Good+” is $3 and “Near Mint” is $6. Promo copy would potentially be a bit more.
