Jim
Gribble, who was credited on the labels for writing both “So Fine” and “Last Night I Dreamed”, was the manager of the Fiestas, the Mystics and few other
groups in and around New York. He was sued by Johnny Otis for a copyright infringement.
The case ended in Otis’ favour. The original version of “So Fine” that Otis
wrote for the Sheiks in 1955 was considered so similar that Gribble couldn’t be
credited for the song, thus he ended up paying the legal costs and the
penalties.
