Elvis had released his debut album just 6 weeks before this single came out. He was truly striking while the iron was hot and released 11 singles and two albums in 1956.

This was one of the four US #1 singles he had that year.

The flip was written by Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup, the same blues artist who had written “That’s All Right”, which was the A side of Elvis’ first single.
