Richard Berry recorded the original “Louie Louie” in 1957, but the Kingsmen’s cover made it a major hit. It’s claimed to be the most recorded rock song in the world. Other groups and artists that have had a hit with are including Paul Revere & the Raiders (1963, US #103), the Sandpipers (1966, US #30), Motörhead (1978, UK #68) and John Belushi (1978, US #89).

The single was first released under the Jerden label in June 1963. After that they signed with Wand and it was this second release that entered the Billboard charts on 9. November 1963.

I remember hearing the song for the first time in the movie “Animal House” (1978), starring John Belushi.

List price:  Very Good+ is $10, Near Mint is $20. The Jerden release is VG+ $30, NM $60.
