This was Haley’s first Decca single that failed to chart in the States. In the UK, however, it did pretty good. The UK release had “Calling All Comets” as side B. That was recorded in the same session as “Choo Choo Ch’Boogie”.

Don’t Knock the Rock” was also the title of the movie, where the song was played during the opening credits. It was specially written for the movie.

The flip was originally recorded by Louis Jordan in 1946, when it climbed to US R&B #1 and US #7.
